Wendy is a semi-feral dog due to her lack of socialization during her life. Windy came from a horrible situation. She lived in an abandoned hoarder’s house alone for two years with 43 other dogs. The house was filthy and it was difficult for them to survive. The good news is that all of the dogs have now been rescued! At 12 years old, it is highly unlikely that Windy will ever be a social butterfly. She has a good heart and is never aggressive, but she does not enjoy being pet and prefers to stay in a quiet corner of the house. With time, she starts responding to verbal cues and directions. She does not enjoy the car and is not the kind of dog that you can take out into public.
Windy gets along with all cats and all dogs. More energetic dogs stress her out, so she would prefer to be around calm and confident dogs. We think she would do best in a home with a confident dog that will let her have her space but can show her that the world is not a scary place. Though she is not aggressive, we would recommend a house with no children since she is uncomfortable being touched.
Windy is a great dog for somebody who just wants to help an animal live the rest of their life in comfort. She needs a patient family that will do what she needs and not expect her to change to the preferences of the family. She is completely vetted and not on any medications/supplements. She is being fostered in Fort Worth, TX.
