Say hello to a bouncing ball of energy, Skylar!
Skylar is a 3 year old pittie mix and as with most rescued dogs had a rough start. She was rescued by a family who lived in Las Vegas off of the street at 8 weeks old. The family travels around with their jobs so Skylar was brought up in hotels for the most part. As she got older the strangers she would meet would make her protective of the family so they with great regret surrendered her to us as they knew their lifestyle was not the best for her.
She is a huge cuddle bug, will be glued to your side and can never get enough love. We have some restrictions for her including a 6 foot wood privacy fence as she can be aggressive at a chain link fence with strangers. Additional training would be awesome!
She is spayed, heartworm negative and up to date on her vaccinations. The foster has introduced her to men women and children and she is doing great with accepting new people. There is still some work to do in public, but this girl is a keeper who had several bad experiences that have affected her view of humans but is well on her way to an amazing family dog. She will need a strong pack leader to help her understand that her job is not to protect but to accept new people but once she trusts you there is no going back on her devotion and love. She is a smaller dog with muscles to spare and loves other dogs and cats. She is a little bit of a rough player with dogs but minds extremely well when told no or leave it.
She sleeps at the foot of the bed and will bark occasionally if there is a noise that she thinks is suspicious.
She is penned during the day at her fosters and will reluctantly go in her pen and give her foster the ""sad face"" but will be a good girl when in there. Tons of energy, truckloads of love, just a little work to build her self confidence and trust and what a fantastic dog she will be! Her adoption fee is $250. Apply at www.foreverhomedogs.org to meet Skylar! All adoptions are $200 per dog which include spay/neuter, micro-chipped and up-to-date on required shots.
Senior dogs, at our discretion, are adopted out at $100 per dog because we know they will have less time with your family and may eventually have more needs as they get older. But we feel these dogs deserve to live out the rest of their lives as part of a loving family.
